Christ Church Parish, Redding Ridge

Mission Activities

We reach out to people near and far throughout the year.  Programs are planned by our Mission Committee, which meets several times each year, and new members are most welcome*.

We're proud to give more than 5% of our operating budget to mission programs.    Recipients include Habitat for Humanity, Heifer International, the Bishop's Fund for Children,  The Episcopal Relief Foundation, New Pond Farm's Camper program, Meals on Wheels, St. James Food Pantry, Dorothy Day Hospitality House,  and Bread & Roses (a residence for people with AIDS) .

This garden has helped many seniors in Redding enjoy organic, fresh produce this summer!  We thank all our gardeners for their help in making our Mission Garden such a success.

Lately, we have been very involved with The Danbury Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) and our Covenant to Care relationship with them.    Through this direct kind of help, we provide backpacks and school supplies in late summer; food baskets at Christmas and Easter, and pajamas, warm coats or other essentials for many children, as needed.

Each spring, on Christ Church Cares Day,  we all work together to make a significant difference in an elderly neighbor's home.  Last year, we helped a social service agency in Danbury receive a thorough cleaning, painting and sprucing-up.   Parishioner Fran Kimball has been instrumental in organizing this day for the past several years, as well as being our parish liaison to DCF in Danbury.  Very well done, Fran!
