Messy Church Youth Group for Middle School Kids, Grades 5--8
The Messy Church Youth Group meets monthly on Fridays from 5 to 7 pm, and is led by Sue Klipfel and Meredith McClung. In the true definition of Messy Church, parents of our youth are always invited as well as the children’s friends! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate! This sets the stage for a very active evening!! Our focus is on mission and how we all fit together as a community of Christians. The energy that children
bring to these planned events creates a social atmosphere filled with fun and excitement with a little chaos mixed in for good measure!! We begin each meeting with our project of the month. This can range from making meatballs for Dorothy Day (which we do in the photo to the right, taken in September, 2010), to helping feed those in need, to creating lanterns to light our walkway at the Easter Vigil and Christmas services, to making a huge pot of soup to feed our mission committee when they hold major clean-up projects for one of our Redding neighbors! Our children, along with their parents and friends, are the foundation that supports all of this important work! Please come, participate with your child and bring friends! Watch your children grow spiritually through active interaction with each other and the community at large! It is truly very, very messy!
